The American Absurdity
56Greatest Country
Here in a America we are a very free and accepting society. You can have a doctor alter your organs so you can lose weight or put bags of salt water in your chest to give you bigger tits. Doctors can lop off a man's penis if he believes he should never have had one or put a pump in another's tool if it isn't doing the job anymore. People can have ink injected under their skin or metal shot through their flesh for the purpose of decoration and self expression. We are fed chemically altered sugars and fats everyday that are known to be less then condusive to good health. We have the choice to engage in any of these questionable activities, because we are modern Americans. If, however, we choose to consume, or facilitate others in consuming certain plants and fungi, we become criminals. God bless America.
The Irony
It was Ben Franklin in the play 1776 that made the observation that Revolution is always illegal in the third person. We are a nation with a long history of questioning unjust rules to the point of criminal action. It is, in fact, how we became a nation. Unjust laws are meant to be broken until they are seen for their nature and torn down. This is why cannabis crime is on the rise. It's not a sign of the weakening of our society's moral fabric. It is, to the contrary, a sign of our realization of our own absurdity and an attempt to evolve beyond it. In an age when so many unnatural practices are sanctioned, the idea that the use and distribution of natural substances is prohibited, defines irony. The fact that we still jail people, for protesting unjust laws, is an insult, to the founders that signed their death warrents to give us this nation.
Power to the Powerless
While a majority of voters are not users of natural psychedelics, there is a strong sense that most would not be opposed to lifting certain prohibitions. In these times, the economic benefit would be considerable. Right now, the prohibition remains, so that the benefits stay in the hands of law enforcement, for profit prisons, and the health care industry. The prohibiton remains so insurers can deny claims and companies can deny workmen's comp (even if the last time you toked up was a week or more from when you were injured) The end of the prohibition and the taxation of natural psychedelics would create small buisness income and agricultural income. Licensed distributors and growers would generate tax revenue (which they currently do not) Regulated sale would be more effective at keeping kids off drugs then any ad campaign; as I for one can attest, that getting alcohol before I was 21 was always harder then getting weed.
Write to our new leaders in Washington and your local leaders. Let the party in power know that they need our vote more then we need them at this point. Let them know that if they continue to subject a significant portion of the population to undue restrictions of freedom they will not have our votes anymore.

I'm a pot head and I'm mad as hell that I missed this when it was first written. As I am writing this I feel my back cramping up, would you advise me to take some tylenol or something else?
Mescalito is a great doctor, perhaps one should consult with him.
There are definitely bigger fish to fry -such as child bondage or genocide around the globe..
