Democracy; Best Served Cold
56Involvement; How you Earn the right to Rebel.
Dear Mister President,
With all due respect, have you lost your damn mind? Your political instincts fail you in a most clear and damaging way. While the public clearly and concisely tells you that it wants you to lift the prohibition on Cannabis some strange fear response unhinges your mind. You flee from the topic as irrelevant. Fleeing the way a desert reptile skitters across hot sand. Why? It's a shovel ready project; an existing economic engine that need only be brought into the light and reasonably regulated. You do not strike me as a fool or a coward, but your reactions to this issue make me question that judgment.
There are many reasons it is an economic boon. Pot smokers, no longer having to fear the draconian drug tests that don't tell employers differ between thc consumed 3 hours ago and thc consumed 3 days ago, can get better jobs and add more to the economy. The profits would no longer fund organized crime as they currently do. More long term government service jobs for regulatory purposes, as currently no public safety guidelines exist for one of the most widely consumed recreational substances. Green agriculture, and a potential non-food plant source for biofuel stock (hempseed oil). It is a high demand market that only promises to increase in demand when the prohibition lifts.
The one glaring and horrifying reality about this situation, for you, my Friend is that we voted for you. I would be amiss if I imagined you got less then 75% of the pothead vote. You are great and inspirational figure and you inspired people who don't like to get off the couch into the game. You know how this goes. You have to keep us in the game or the jackals will rip you and this nation to pieces. You lose one coalition, one voting block stays home or forgets to mark the top box and you, my Friend, are out of a job. I'll tell, for real, this is not the time to lose your job. No one who voted for you would not vote for you again because you lifted a law that was stupid to begin with. The last thing you want to appear is closed minded and on this front that is the appearance you have given.
I write this to you now in a state that is, according to the Government which you now lead, criminal. I will continue to commit this crime and any other peaceful drug crime I can disobey as an act of civil disobedience. If you are going to uphold laws this cruel and stupid I must put myself in opposition. If you maintain the Drug War then I must remain the enemy of a nation I love.

Hemp clothing is another avenue for maximizing profits, and hemp paper is a better renewable source than trees.
I love the biproduct, or the intended use of hemp - paper, clothing, biofuels. I personally am opposed to the recreational use of it, having seen first hand the side effects it can have. One size doesn't fit all with this stuff. But I'm hearing different plants have different effects, is that the case? Not an easy one to table and vote in favor of. But I really wish it's agricultural uses could be maximized. Hemp clothing is great stuff but so expensive.
Yes, that's the other side of the two edged sword. Is it a damned if we do damned if we don't situation. Even good people become corrupt! And I'm wondering if it's the 'so called good people' who have a vested interest in not having it put into mainstream agriculture. The cotton industry will lose allot if hemp becomes affordable.
I can find nothing in what you say to disagree with Horatio. You're right. Well said.
Hope springs eternal, right Horatio?
As a non pot smoker I can say that I have always felt they should legalize marijuana . I am not saying I never have smoked pot , and yes I did Inhale but It Is now a non Issue seeings It has been over 25 years since I last Inhaled .
At a time when this country needs some revenue I think this Is one solution that Is viable . And also legalizing marijuana might get some people out of jail who do not really belong there . And we could use that space for people who need to be there ,like violent criminals per se ! Th war on drugs has been an expensive and all out failure . Not to mention the fact It might reduce the number of lives being lost daily along the border. I see nothing but positives from this . But Obama knows that If he were to do that ,he would rile the Republicans worse than a nest of killer bees ! So Its politics as usual !
My little fantasy: Obama gets treasury and the armed forces chiefs to take a toke of some good dutch heads, the ender of all wars!
"I love you man" is not gonna start a lot of wars, and empathy for others (another side effect of THC delta 9) would have treasury handing back houses and jailing the guilty!
wild fires consume the brush in the hills around LA. Rainy season comes. No roots to hold the soil together. Mud slides. I know of a crop that grows like a weed that would grow fast, hold the soil.
users or this crop should not be labled as criminals, they are just outlaws.
This hub is Revolting (PUN) intended
Kidding aside The only reason some people are called rebels is they see what their government doing as counter to what the people want.
Can you be called a rebel if your trying to extract yourself from a Dictatorship?
Did You know that Thomas Jefferson encouraged farmers to grow Hemp instead of cotton. He saw it as key to the Defense of the new nation. Ships sails were made of Hemp,as were ropes,as well as clothing.
The seeds are higher in omega 3 fatty acids than any other seeds and the oil can be used as diesel fuel,as well as a food product. The fibers are so long,it makes the best paper. The constitution was written on hemp paper.Someone has discovered that you can manufacture a replacement for structual wood using hemp fiber.Even car bodies can be manufactured using hemp fiber just as we use fiberglass now forr the same purpose.
and as for the cotton growers, the biggest commercial opponents are the alcohol industry. They would rather have you booze it up, get in a fight and wreck your car than sit there being all mellow and thinking, (even if you do forget what you thought when you were......... uhh,

that was a hit from a three foot bong HB, I can't believe it, but I can count on a politician to flip flop a couple of times before they lock in that final answer, that yes, they are smarter than fifth grader. Its seems like a very easy decision for us, but we know how partial we are, we have an biased opinion to start with, but I think if the discussion is on the table, we are at least gettin' somewhere. This won't go away very easily with the west coast states tryin' to legalize it.
